Volunteers in the Classroom
Teachers,
Do you have volunteers that want to help in your classroom? Are you at a loss when figuring out what to ask them to help with? I often did not know what to ask volunteers to help with in my 5th grade classroom. I decided to make a list of task volunteers could help with.
1. Allow a student that needs extra practice reading go to the library. They can read to the volunteer for 15 or 20 minutes.
2. The volunteer could read one of their favorite books to the class.
3. Have them place any papers that need to go home in student folders.
4. Make copies or laminate materials for you.
5. Help monitor at recess or during lunch time.
6. Design and help put up a new bulletin board.
7. Help to disinfect tables and chairs at the end of the day.
8. Write to students in their writing journals.
9. Prepare materials for art projects.
10. Help students to learn multiplication tables.

If you do not have volunteers in your classroom you can send home the following Parent Volunteer Form. Parents often want to help at schools, but do not know where to start.
Parents,
Teachers can always use an extra set of hands or eyes in the classroom. Volunteering in your child's classroom can be a great help to their teacher. Teachers often carry task home such as cutting out materials, grading paper, and putting together folders. Ask your child's teacher how you could help out in their classroom.
